Vogels and NGA staff begin discussions regarding gifts to museum collections across the United States and eventually develop The Dorothy and Herbert Vogel Collection: Fifty Works for Fifty States project.
National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) and the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) join with the NGA to provide support for The Dorothy and Herbert Vogel Collection: Fifty Works for Fifty States project (2007).
Fifty Works for Fifty States is announced to the public (April 2008), noting the initiative’s plans for each of the 50 institutions to exhibit its gift within five years.
The Dorothy and Herbert Vogel Collection: Fifty Works for Fifty States a catalogue, compiled by Ruth Fine and Mary Lee Corlett, is published by NEA (November 2008).
Premiere of Herb and Dorothy at Silverdocs, the American Film Institute/Discovery Channel Documentary Film Festival, Silver Spring, Maryland, where it wins Best of Festival Audience Award. Filmmaker Megumi Sasaki and the Vogels are in attendance (June 2008).
