Charles Clough was born in Buffalo, New York in 1951. He studied at Pratt Institute, Ontario College of Art in Toronto, and New York University. In 1974 he established, along with Robert Longo and Cindy Sherman, Hallwalls Center for Contemporary Art in Buffalo. Clough’s works, such as the swirling, colorful examples from the Vogel Collection, draw inspiration from television, popular cinema, and advertising.
