New Haven Bodhidharma Stone

Richard Francisco was born in California in 1942. He spent time in early adulthood traveling through Europe and the Middle East and finally settling in New York in the mid 1960s. Francisco’s works, such as New Haven Bodhidharma Stone, are assemblages created from mixed media, often small in scale with an abstract, geometric aesthetic. Regarding his mode of creation, Francisco is quoted as saying, “I would rather build a drawing than draw a drawing.”
